Ron's Medical Relief Fund

Late January, our father Ron Baxendell, 64 years old, suffered a stroke. He went through several tests but it seemed the doctors could not come to a conclusion of what the cause may be. A week later, he spent a night vomiting and the next day noticed a plum sized lump on his stomach. The first doctor told him that he believed it was a carcinoid tumor.   

At first they thought it was in one area, but after his surgery they found the cancer throughout his small intestine in 10 lymph nodes. During his procedure he had 4 feet of his small intestine removed and after some tests it was concluded that our father had a malignant carcinoid tumor. Carcinoid cancer is a very complex cancer that most are unfamiliar with it. So he has now been instructed to travel to carcinoid oncologists in Durham, NC to seek out experts.

The bills alone from his stroke, ambulance ride, tests, carcinoid surgery, and recovery have been overwhelming. With our father being out of work since early January it's becoming difficult to even pay their household bills let alone the hospital bills. We have exhausted our financial resources and the best we've been able to do is payment plans from the hospital.

Our family is not the type to ask for things like this, but my parents do not have the means to pay. My dad hasn’t had a car in over a year and has been riding his bike to work in any weather condition, so it shows that he is not the person to give up and ask for hand outs.

If you know Ron, you know he is an amazing father, grandfather, and an all around amazing person. He has a giant sized heart and love for all living things. He cares about his family, friends, and the world tremendously.  He has always gone out of his way for his family and friends without asking for anything in return, and now in a time of need we are extending ourselves to you for help.
