Oy. Please don’t let Passover pass over us

20 years ago, our little temple, Congregation Sinai, was born in Minneola, Florida and has since relocated to Groveland, Florida. We are the only temple in the nearby area.

Over the years we grew to be a very close-knit family who look forward to attending services every week, share our mitzvahs, study Torah, support each other and celebrate our traditions.

We are in a 3-store strip mall with our location being about 2400 sq ft.

We may be small, but we have big hearts. We do a lot of community outreach to help others locally with food drives, clothing drives, toy drives, donating school supplies to others less fortunate than us and more.

This has been a very difficult year and now we must ask for help. The majority of our members are in their 80’s and up. Many have recently suffered with health issues. In the past six (6) months, four (4) members have passed away. This has added to the financial burden of their spouses who were already living on a fixed income, as they are now living with less money. No matter what, they still look forward to attending services and celebrating our holidays together. We are a family.

Our synagogue has minimal kitchen facilities (a sink and refrigerator) so we need to rent a venue to have our Passover Seder. In addition, we need to have our Passover meal catered since we can’t have a stove or oven.

This year we have a financial problem. Food and venue costs have gone up excessively! The expense is too high! Many of our older congregants cannot afford to pay for our Passover Seder. We don't want to disappoint anyone! Please help us to carry on our Jewish traditions and to keep our Seder available to our members and the community. We are asking for any donation that you can give so that we can continue to have our Passover Seder. Thank you.
