Oxygen Life-Support For Esmé
Donation protected
****ANY AMOUNT HELPS****
On December 1st, Esmé, our 5-month-old Border Collie pup was struck by a full-speed SUV while my husband was out running her. She has sustained some epic pulmonary contusions and two collapsed lungs.
At this time, she cannot sustain adequate oxygen levels on her own. If she could, a full recovery would be expected as her body would be able to repair itself.
Right now, she is being kept alive in-hospital with the support of an oxygen machine. Without it, her body will go into a state of hypoxia, her organs will begin to shut down and she will die.
We've been told that, despite her injuries, she stands a fighting chance if we can JUST help her breath for the next 24-48 hours after which time she'll be strong enough to do it on her own.
We have chosen to pay out of pocket to keep her alive right now because we know that it's not in vain. Though her prognosis is optimistic, we are sickened by the thought of having to make the call to take her off oxygen because we cannot afford it.
It's difficult to publicize a plea for financial help but we are desperate. If any of you have even $5 to donate, it would mean the universe to us.
With much love and thanks,
Summer & Mitch Yrjola
