Oxygen Concentrator for Laurie

Donation protected
My wonderful mom-in-law, Laurie, was recently diagnosed with a rare disease called Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (aka LAM).  LAM is a rare  disease (3-5 women out of a million) that causes normal muscle cells to grow out of control, particularly in the lungs, lymphatic system and kidneys.  As the cells grow abnormally, they begin to develop into cysts and cause blockages in the airways of the lungs.

Although great strides have been made in researching LAM,  there is no cure.   Medication(s) can slow the progression of the disease but inevitably LAM progresses and causes advancing lung disease.  To learn more about LAM, go to https://www.thelamfoundation.org/.

Laurie currently requires oxygen with exertion (i.e. walking, stairs, exercise) and will become more dependent on oxygen as the disease progresses.  Laurie's insurance only covers old fashion oxygen tanks which limit the amount of time she can be away from her home to roughly 12-16 hours.   An oxygen concentrator would provide an unlimited oxygen supply and would allow Laurie to travel further distances and/or staying overnight outside of her home.

My hope is that we can come together and raise the funds to surprise Laurie with an oxygen concentrator for Christmas.  She won't admit it and/or ask for help, but I know that unlimited oxygen will improve Laurie's life.  If you have even a few dollars you can contribute, Bryce, Drew ,and I  would be extremely grateful. Take care of yourselves and others!

Happy Holidays,
Alex
