Every year hundreds of Oxford House residents gather from around the country and the world to hold an annual convention. At the 17th annual Oxford House World Convention in Washington, D.C. last September, it was announced that Dallas, Texas will host the 2016 convention. Oxford House of Texas is very proud that our great state was chosen. It is our goal to make this the best World Convention ever. In order to do that we need your help!
Oxford houses are self-run and self-supported worldwide recovery homes for individuals in recovery from addiction of alcohol and or other drugs. Since Oxford House began in 1975, hundreds of thousands of people have given up the use of their addictions and become productive, taxpaying citizens of the community. Our current success rate is 87%. Today there are over 150 Oxford Houses in Texas and it is estimated that through the concept of self-support, houses will contribute over $20 million dollars combined to the community through rent payments, taxes, shopping, and utility payments. Oxford Houses fulfill the need of a supportive home and a surrogate family until the person becomes comfortable in their recovery. The object of this convention is to enhance the continued successful operation of our homes. We encourage the members of each house to send their newly elected house officers for training. We are asking you to donate to Oxford Houses of Texas, which will assist us with the costs associated of being the host state, which includes:
• The registration and travel costs of sending over 150 delegates from Texas to learn about recovery and Oxford House operations.
• A special Friday night event, with entertainment, education, and a meal for over 1000 delegates.
• The Women's Conference, which takes place a day before the convention where over 300 women will meet to learn and grow in recovery together through group activities, key note addresses, and unity exercises.
• Providing of meeting space and meals for over 1000 delegates from around the world.
No donation is too small and we would be grateful for any amount that you are able to provide.
Oxford House Inc. is a 501c (3) non-profit Corporation (our umbrella corporation) and charters all of our houses in Texas. Your donation will be considered tax deductible by the IRS.
