The objective of my fundraising is to bring to Oxford a group of 15-20 eminent scholars of environmental governance and climate change for a Round Table discussion on global environmental sustainability and governance. The one-and-a-half-day event will take place at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, starting on Friday, September 4, 2026.
The Round Table will be organised in 3 major sessions with a concluding session focused on the following questions:
1) Is there common ground about the perception of the scale/ and nature of the environmental problem the world is facing within the policy-making community? If not, can we establish a typology of frameworks relating to perception?
2) What does it take to facilitate coordination to achieve the global solution, given that the solution to any policy problem requires success not only at the agenda-setting and negotiation stages but also critically at the implementation, monitoring, and enforcement stages. What are the actual and potential roadblocks?
3) Discussion and assessment of recent major developments in global environmental policy governance and the challenge of global leadership.
We hope that the proceedings will enable us to produce a green paper to inform policy-making in this area.
