Oxford Half Marathon for Honor

Nearly a year ago one of my dearest friends Honor took her own life after struggling with her mental health. She was the most joyful person to be around and we all miss her immeasurably. Honor was a brilliant runner and believed passionately in the good that Mind could do as a charity in raising awareness for and supporting those experiencing difficulties with their mental health. She was an inspirational advocate for conversation and fundraising, and she herself ran a marathon to raise funds for Mind.

In memory of Honor I ran the Oxford Half Marathon (21km) this morning (15.10.23). I took up running in August as she had always encouraged me to do so. Through her, I’ve found a real love for it. If you had a couple of pounds or anything you can give to support this wonderful charity in her memory, it would mean so much.

Honor’s kindness was never more evident to me than when we ran a Cadet cross country at school, complete with backpacks and boots. I was begrudgingly puffing along near the back and she ran the whole thing with me, cheerily encouraging me and telling me that she too couldn’t bear it- never saying a word about the fact that she’d be running a half marathon soon!

She was a wonderful person, friend and advocate for mental health support. I miss her everyday and would have loved to have run it with her, but I hope that in a small way this can help to keep her fundraising going.
