CHARITY
"MATTHEW EAGLE
In February 2023, I lost my dad to a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm. There are hereditary factors in the condition and my dad had already lost his own father (my grandad) in 2001 to a ruptured aneurysm and it’s very likely that I, along with others in my family, will be susceptible later on in our lives. Currently, there are no drugs to treat an AAA and surgery is very risky. 80% of men in the UK will not survive a ruptured aneurysm and it accounts for 1 in 50 deaths of men aged over 65 every year. The Oxford Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Study aims to improve the understanding of aneurysm progression in humans which will lead to new risk stratification strategies for patients with AAAs in the future. The money received from any donations towards our bike ride from London to Paris will be vital in allowing them to break more boundaries with their research and hopefully save many lives."
Collectively we have decided on Matty's choice of charity for our 24-hour cycling challenge. All your kind donations will be greatfully received on behalf of, OXAAA (Oxford Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Study).
Below I have added a link for you to view all the information on our chosen charity.
