Six months ago, six year old Owen had brain surgery to correct a brain malformation called Chiari Malformation . It was Owen's first visit to New York City, and he took $10 with him in order to celebrate a successful surgery at the downtown Manhattan Lego store. Owen's parents, Laura and Dennis, stayed at the Ronald McDonald House, and on their last night in New York, Owen had been discharged from the hospital and stayed with them. Once he learned about the incredible mission of the Ronald McDonald House and how beautifully they cared for his parents, Owen asked his mom if he could donate his $10 to them, instead of buying his legos. He celebrated his sixth birthday the next day.
Friends, Owen's heart is so big! At just six years old (!!), Owen already understands that small gestures make big impacts.
In a follow up visit last week, Owen earned that he also has a tethered spine and will be undergoing a second surgery next Wednesday, again in Manhattan's Weill Cornell University Hospital .
Please help support this sweet family, and this amazing kiddo as he bravely heads into another incredibly difficult surgery that will hopefully change his life forever. While the family has medical insurance, it doesn't cover everything... nor does it cover the cost of missed work, travel, hotels, countless meals out of the house, and other hidden costs.
Let's help this Chiari Warrior get to the finish line, with a smile on his face and a intact body and spirit. We love you Owen, Laura & Dennis, and siblings Jack and Caitlin!
