Owen Messent’s Journey to Heal

Owen Messent’s family and friends are organizing a GoFundMe to help his medical recovery.

Owen is a US Army veteran who served from 2006 to 2012. He is a University of Texas at El Paso alum where he studied Computer Science. He's a proud & loving partner and a father to a young son and a new baby on the way. He works in the customer service industry now and his coworkers describe him as a brother, always willing to listen and lend a hand.

His medical journey began some time ago but went undiagnosed for months. Finally, Owen was able to see a team of doctors that diagnosed his pain as an infection. Before he could seek treatment for the infection, it spread to his heart and he needed immediate surgery.

Owen bravely underwent surgery this past week and is recovering now, but his healing journey is just beginning. With this, his friends and family are reaching out to raise money for his medical expenses incurred during the unexpected heart surgery and his recovery to come. With soon-to-be two small children at home, we’re hoping to raise money that will allow Owen to focus on his recovery and his partner the help in focusing on caring for him during this time.
