Owen Gale Surgery Relief Fund

For those that know Owen Gale, they know that he is a bright light to all that he meets. He is passionate beyond belief, has a massive heart, with all of the love for his family and friends, but most importantly he is the bravest person I know. Owen lives with Spina Bifida and has already undergone several (upwards of 12/13) major and minor surgeries in his short life related to his diagnosis. He has gone through all of these surgeries with grace and dignity and come out on the other side thankful for his life and remains positive through it all. He is a champion!

During covid and lockdowns, Owen began to experience a progressive case of Scoliosis, where his spine began to curve and is now at a 110 degree curve. This requires immediate attention and multiple surgeries on his spine, back to back, in order to get his spine where it needs to be to sustain his life. This new ailment has resulted in Owen experiencing daily struggles with pain and fatigue, challenges with eating and other personal care. It has not been an easy journey for him and Covid protocols were making it nearly impossible for him to get the life saving surgeries that he desperately requires. In a quick and AMAZING turn of events, and with the help of Dr's from hospitals around Canada, surgeries that didn't look like they could happen for several months are happening in October!!!

Owen and his family are ECSTATIC (and equally terrified) with the news that his surgeries are happening so soon, however, they need some help from their friends, family, and community in order to make this happen. A little backstory--Owen has wished for a sibling...and more specifically a brother...for as long as I (his aunt) can remember. He got this wish last year and his miracle brother, Ben, was born on October 1st, 2020. YAY!! This required Owen's mom (Megan) to be off on maternity leave from a job that she had only recently acquired at the time, making their income manageable for now with her husband working, but she certainly needed to get back to work in October of 2021, when her maternity leave was due to end. Unfortunately, you can't predict when an emergency is going to take place and now her maternity leave is coming to an end and with Owen's surgery and recovery she is unable to get back to work until likely the New Year. Megan does not have enough hours to claim EI again, and her claim has been denied.

Please consider giving a small donation to Owen and his family in order to help them get through this stressful and hectic time in their life, and allow them to put all of their attention into Owen and his upcoming needs. Your time and consideration reading this post is greatly appreciated and any donation made is life changing for this family in this moment.
Thank you!
