Hi my name is sarah cattrick
I'm looking for as many people to get behind this and help this young man as much or as little as they can
Owen has a condition (PMD) pelizaeus-mezdacher disease he was born with it
It effects his mobility, he is unable to walk and move his body much, this condition eventually will turn into locked in syndrome
In 2022 Owen became really unwell he was admitted to james cook hospital and put in a coma, his parents were told he wouldn't make it as it took doctors 6 hours to put him in a coma and he stopped breathing 3 times while trying
Owen amazed everyone and woke 3 weeks later, but after a week took a turn for the worst and was put back into a coma
Another 2 weeks passed Owen woke again but not out of the woods, he had a lot of breathing problems and had to have a tracheostomy fitted into his throat, he is also getting fed through his small bowel 20 hours per day every day
Owen is now trachi vented and also needs oxygen on a night and when required throughout the day, he requires regular trachi suction and oral suction
Owen has gone from eating food (he loved hotshot parmo) and drinking to getting fed through a feeding tube for 20 hours per day
Owen left school in july 2024 as he is 19, mam and CHC have tried to source day centres to go to, they have been told to view them only to be told Owen is to complex to attend because of his trachi even tho he has a member of staff with him that is very highly trained for all owens health needs
Owen nurse from ICU is willing to train staff nurse from any day centre for free but is still getting refused a place
Owwns mental health is really getting effected by this, he is saying he wants to go to heaven now, he can't stay at school or go anywhere school was his happy place where he could be with friends and people his age were he had a bit of independence, now his mental health is massively affected and he's not being listened too!!!
Owen loved going in the hydro therapy pool it was really good to relax his muscles but unfortunately due to his trachi he is unable to do this any more
We're looking to build a place in his garden where he is able to invite his friends over to socialise and have a bit of normality
We are looking to put a sensory, gaming (he wants to be a gamer) t.v equipment also a mobile hoist a water bed as he loved going on it at school but his bedroom is to small as he has to many life saving machines and equipment in his room
Please please help this young man to have the best possible life he can and donate as much or as little as you can
Thankyou so much in advance for all ypur support
