Hi everyone,

My name is Bjorn, and my mother and I share a rare hereditary heart condition for which, unfortunately, there is currently no cure.

This condition, related to Progeria (a disorder that causes young people to appear much older than they are), leads to premature aging of my heart.

As a scientist, I naturally didn’t want to sit idly by. Using AI, I delved into the scientific literature to find the best opportunities to keep my heart as healthy and strong as possible. Nutritional supplements like resveratrol (read more about this in this article: Fittergy-A for profit company is helping me live longer) and future gene therapies offer hope, but high-pressure oxygen therapy seems like a promising method to help maintain my health for longer.

With just a few extra years of good health, I could buy time until CRISPR-based gene therapy becomes available to address the underlying cause of my condition. That way, I could watch my three-year-old daughter grow up.

Because my condition is so rare, insurance does not cover high-pressure oxygen therapy. Fortunately, there are companies in China that offer high-pressure oxygen tents for consumers.

Thanks to this campaign, I was able to raise over €6,000 to purchase a high-pressure oxygen tent, which will help me keep my heart younger and healthier for longer.

Over the next three years, I will need an additional €18,000 to cover uncovered medical expenses, such as medications and electricity costs for using the oxygen chamber.

If more than the target amount is raised, the extra funds will be used to make AI more accessible for foundations like the LMNA Cardiac Foundation.

I am already in contact with the foundation to support research into this LMNA-defect-related disease using AI.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Hoi allemaal,
