"We are ok honey! But we don't know about your brother yet!"  Those words crackling across the phone will always ring in my memory.  They escaped through falling flames. The Camp fire has destroyed 4 family homes:  my parents' beautiful canyon home , my 99 year old grandmother's home down the road (My gran  is still somewhat independent and sharp as a tack!), my aunt Jan's house and my cousin Jani .  All has been destroyed and they were only able to get out with the clothes on their backs and thankfully their dog!  One always wonders how that happens but now I get it - it's all so so fast and horrible even grabbing "the firebox" is almost impossible when you are being rushed out the door.  My parents thought they would have a short bit to run back to get a few essentials but were blocked by fire.  Any help would be more than appreciated they truly need it.  And...my brother n family are ok!
