Overcoming Medical Hurdles

Hi everyone,

I’m not typically the person who puts themselves out there like this looking for help. However, I’m currently facing a lot of financial and medical difficulties and I just can’t handle it on my own anymore after this most recent surgery.

If you know me already, you may be fully aware that I’m chronically ill and I’m considered medically frail through the state of Massachusetts. I’ve been offered disability a number of times, starting around 24 years old however I have always refused and have continued to work as hard as I possibly can, while I can. I’m now 36 and I’ve been handling all of my diseases and injuries alone for as long as I can remember. I’ve had more surgeries than most will ever see in a lifetime. I’ve been through organ and tissue donation over 6 times alone, having been the recipient. (Thank you to the families of those whom have made this possible for me). On top of all of my bone/tissue/ligament issues, I also have a myriad of other diseases, not limited to, but including Hashimoto’s disease, Eosinophilic Esophagitis, Osteochondritis Dissecans, Severe anemia, severe iron deficiency, hiatal hernia, ulcers, GERD, RLS, arthritis and many other conditions… some of which are currently undiagnosed but being studied by specialists.

That being said, this most recent surgery that I had on November 14th, 2024 has been the most challenging of my life thus far and I have been struggling not only physically but mentally, and financially. This surgery was to fix/maintain my Osteochondritis Dissecans as it causes my bones to die and break. The surgeons did not expect the level of damage that I actually had as they were unable to see all of it in the MRIs that were taken before prior to surgery. I was supposed to return to work on 12/9/24 however, my surgeon has extended this well into February now and possibly March as well. I’ve been out of work this entire time, most of that time spent bed ridden… only receiving a percentage of my income each month.. Unfortunately this is not enough to pay for or maintain my various bills, copays, medical treatments, etc.

I could spend all day explaining my medical history here and all of the money I’ve had to spend just to keep myself alive… But I’ve decided to finally swallow my pride and ask for some help from anyone that is able.

I understand that this is a very difficult time for most, financially. So I appreciate whatever anyone can spare or donate. I appreciate you all.
