Overcome the Distance: A Bike for My Job
Donation protected
Hi friends,
In April, my car broke down. With no savings left after a tough year of unemployment in 2023, replacing it is not an option for at least another year. Right now, I have been lucky because my workplace has been incredibly kind and allowed me to temporarily work at a smaller office closer to home. I have also been able to rent city bikes to get there each day.
This September, I will need to return to my main office. That is where the challenge comes in. It is far beyond the range of the city bikes I currently use, and public transportation is not a realistic solution. The closest bus stop is a 45-minute walk from my home, and the bus ride is over 2.5 hours each way.
An electric bike would change everything. It would give me a reliable and affordable way to get to work, keep my job, and avoid the exhausting commute that public transit would require. Unfortunately, even the most affordable e-bikes with enough range for my needs are out of reach right now.
That is why I am starting this GoFundMe to raise $2,000 to cover the cost of a dependable electric bike and the gear I would need to ride safely.
I am not great at asking for help, but if you are able to donate, no matter the amount, it would mean the world to me. Every dollar brings me closer to being able to get to work without the fear of losing my job over transportation. If you cannot donate, simply sharing this with others would be an incredible help.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for any kindness you can offer.
