- On November 14th, 2024, I had to be taken by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, because I had come in contact with a Strep A bacterial infection with Necrotizing Fasciitis , which has caused horrific damage to my right hand and arm. Within the 3 weeks I was in Harborview Medical Center, I had to have 6 surgeries to save my right hand and arm.
- After being released from the hospital, I have been struggling with the reality of not being able to take care of myself physically and financially. My specialists at Harborview tell me I am a walking miracle. The survival rate from this type of infection is only 60%. Emotionally, I am struggling with not being able to use my right hand and arm as I normally would, and the lack of stamina from the toll the infection has taken on my body as a whole.
- The loss of my income is requiring me to seek help to pay for just simple day-to-day living costs.
- My medical bills are over $600k; my insurance will cover most of the hospitalization and surgeries, but I will have around $10k of out-of-pocket costs.
- My car needs to have repairs done to it, such as hoses, spark plugs, and brakes replaced. I am grateful the dealership pays for 3 years of oil changes.
- The nerves that had to be cut through in order to save my hand and arm are painful and will take a long time to heal. Just trying to feed myself is painful.
- Not being able to physically work so I can operate my business has cost me the loss of my main source of income as well as income for my workers.
