The HIIT Revolution - Outdoor Family Fitness

The Story My name is Chloe Thorn, I am a 32-year-old fitness enthusiast, based in Surrey.  I am raising money to assist with the start-up of my move into the fitness industry with my company, The HIIT Revolution; a family fitness business focused on physical health, the promotion of better mental health and building great family relationships. Having a good physical health has always been held in such high regard and rightly so but the subject of mental health has only in the past few years become of such significant importance.  The media are encouraging people to talk more, people are generally being more open with each other in regards to their state of mind whether that’s with their employers or friends and family and there is a definite shift occurring in what once was a very taboo subject. Although this movement is so encouraging, The HIIT Revolution feels that there is still not enough focus on preventing mental health conditions in the first place, especially amongst children. In the UK we are providing more help to people already suffering, but with 1 in 10 schoolchildren having been diagnosed with a  mental health condition, our mission here is to make a difference by installing healthy habits in children from a young age that they can take with them through to adulthood. 2020 has been a different year for everyone all over the world and nothing that any of us could have predicted; life as we knew it was taken away and put on hold.  For myself, I went into the year having just been made redundant from a role at a top financial services company, with the intention of getting a similar new role soon after.  Then COVID made an appearance!  I experienced a temporary worry that being unemployed amidst a pandemic whilst having to provide for two children, was not going to work out in my favour.  However, I knew deep down my heart lay outside of the 9-5, with an idea that had been bubbling for over a year beforehand and maybe this was the perfect time to make that vision into a reality.  Over the past few months, I have been creating a thorough, scalable business model, but to successfully launch and bring this to local communities, I need your help… What’s the Plan? The HIIT Revolution will provide outdoor 40-minute-High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) sessions for parents and children over the age of 5 in local parks throughout the UK.  The first location we hope to start in is Oxted, in Surrey and there are plans already ongoing for the 2nd location to be secured. These sessions will run after school through to evenings, plus throughout the weekends, by a professionally trained fitness instructor using mainly body-weight exercises but with some circuit work also involved.  Sessions will be fun yet meaningful and adaptations for different ages and abilities will be provided. Members will join through a monthly membership giving them unlimited access to classes throughout the month, meeting theirs and their children’s fitness needs at the same time, whilst joining a community of like-minded families. Let’s talk money! The funds raised will allow me to secure the following in our first year: ·        Fees to the park for using their space ·        Equipment ·        Wages for the instructors/small portion to myself to allow me to work on the business full time and expand ·        Advertising and marketing to gain some great momentum throughout the  community ·        General admin such as accounting, customer management and insurance ·        Any leftover monies/profit to be put back into the business for year 2 Upon reaching our fundraising target, we intend to start up within a matter of weeks! Why crowdfunding and why this? Other funding methods were considered but as The HIIT Revolution is going to directly impact local communities, I felt this was the best way to get families involved and engaged in the project from the start. I am hugely passionate about young children and the role we as adults play in dictating their future.  As a Mum myself, I am very aware how my actions influence my children’s, so I feel it is my moral obligation to show them that exercise can be fun and something that can be done together, whilst also installing a deeper rooted habit. Hundreds of thousands of parents and children have taken part in exercise over the lockdown period, such as PE with Joe and I feel I am bringing this to the fitness market when it truly needs it the most.  I want to get Britain moving again and what a way to do it in the great outdoors we have all missed so much! Thank you from me! I am so grateful to every one of you who will take the time to read my story and go forward to donate. I fully intend on becoming the Number 1 'go to' for families wanting to exercise in the UK so really do appreciate any amount big or small that will take me a step closer to that! You can also hugely help me push this forward by sharing the page using the following link on social media: https://www.gofundme.com/create/story/outdoor-family-fitness-in-the-community Please spread the word about the mission with whoever you can! I will be sure to keep you up to date with the progress on our side and really hope we will be coming to a park near you in the not too distant future!  Thanks again,  Chloe x
