Hi,

I'm sure many of you know our best friend Gemma & her son Kaeden, Kaeden battled for years from the age of 13 with Leukaemia, experiencing very bad side effects from the chemotherapy, he finally got into remission and off treatment just over 2 years.

5 weeks ago, their world fell apart again when they received the news that Kaeden had relapsed, having the same leukaemia as last time but missing the CD22 marker which unfortunately makes it harder to treat.

Nottingham city hospital have held many discussions with various hospitals about Kaeden about what would be the best treatment plan for him, the specialists decided that long term chemotherapy & a bone marrow transplant wouldn't be an option as the chemo put his body through so much toxicity last time, he wouldn't be able handle it again.

The only treatment they could offer is Car T therapy, as Kaeden didn't have the CD22 marker he needed originally, Great Ormond street took another bone marrow to see if they could do the treatment with the CD19 marker instead, after 2 agonising weeks of waiting to hear back, they finally received some amazing news that he can have the treatment!

This is going to be a very long and hard road for them, Kaeden starts his treatment this week and there are many side effects involved, which he will need someone with him at all times when he's not at the hospital, Gemma wont be able to work as much to look after him and with Kaeden now being a young adult, there's not much help for carers

We just want Gemma to be able to concentrate on Kaeden and not to have added pressure & worries whilst Kaeden’s having treatment
