Out of the Flames, Into Recovery: Help Mario Heal
Donation protected
Dear friends and family, let me start out by saying our dad is blocked from this post and has no idea that we are doing this for him!
My sister Kristen and I are reaching out during an incredibly scary time for our family. For those of you that don’t know, our dad was recently involved in a horrific car accident. He was driving home on 90 Wednesday night and lost control of his truck. The truck rolled over multiple times before bursting into flames. Our dad was ejected from the cab and landed dangerously close to the heavy flames. Thankfully, there were a group of bystanders, or angels on earth as we refer to them, who stopped to help drag our dad away from the fire. He was life flighted to the trauma ICU downtown at UH. By the grace of God and a guardian angel looking out for him, he survived. He sustained multiple injuries including a broken sternum, broken ribs, a fracture to one of his lumbar vertebrae, a bruised lung, lacerations on the back of his head requiring staples, and more. According to the police, they have never really seen someone survive this type of accident. Our dad surviving is a true miracle. The road to recovery is going to be long, but we are eternally grateful that our dad is still with us!
He was unconscious initially and didn’t know what happened until we told him. He still doesn’t remember a lot and we have to keep filling in the blanks at times. One of the first things he asked about was his truck and all the stuff he had in it. When we told him that there is nothing left, he was devastated. Instead of worrying about himself and his recovery, he was focusing on needing a new truck and replacing the things in it.
Anyone who knows our dad, knows that he is extremely hard working and would give you the shirt off his back in a second. We are asking for your support to help cover the costs associated with replacing his truck and dealing with the unexpected financial demands that have arisen from this incident. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and help us focus on what truly matters—his recovery. Again, he knows nothing about this so please don’t mention it to him. Thank you for considering helping us help our dad in this challenging time. We truly appreciate your kindness and support more than you know!!
