Out of State Medical Appointment

Hi, my name is Katie and I am 32 years old, and am raising 2 wonderful children by myself. My goal is to raise enough funds to where I can see a retina specialist in SLC Utah since my insurance will not cover the appointment. I'm fundraising to afford the appoitment, gas expenses, and hotel stay.

I'll give you a small back story of my current situation. I was in a physically abusive relationship for a few years, and having repeated blunt force trauma to the left side of my face has caused a retina detachment. Basically, when you experience enough trauma, scar tissue builds up, and can cause the retina to become detached. I had no idea this had happened untill it was too late.

In May of 2022 I suddenly lost vision in my left eye. I was diagnosed with a retina detachment on Memorial Day. On May 31st I had a Vitrectomy w/ a shoebuckle & gas implant to attempt and correct my detachment. On July 18th I had my second Vitrectomy w/ an oil implant. On October 24th I had ny 3rd Vitrectomy w/ a lens removal and an oil implant I have gone through roughly 20 doctor appointments since my first ER visit in May 22. I have been to a normal eye doctor for attempts to get glasses and contacts to help improve my vision. I have had every test offered here in in the area, and seem to get more questions then answers. No one can figure out why the corrective surgeries are not working, and the eye doctors can't figure out how to prescribe the correct contact lens to replace the one removed. There seems to be more issues going on then the retina specialist has realized.

I'm trying to see a specialist at SLC Retina. I already have top retina surgeon in the Valley, and he's ready to throw in the towel and let me lose my vision. I am only 32 years old, and I'm not ready to accept that. I'm tired of being poked and proded. I'm tired of all the tests and being passed around to different doctors.

This appointment will be a private pay since my insurance won't cover anything out of state. Im in complete financial ruin after so many surgeries the past 6 months. I'm desperate to see if this suggested doctor can shed some light on my medical mystery.
