(AML) Bone Marrow Transplant
Hello Everyone!
My name is Savannah Tamba. On September 29th, 2020, the same day as my son’s second birthday, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Acute Myeloid Leukemia is a cancer of the blood that is the onset and rapid. In other words, my blood cells are dividing and abnormally spreading throughout my body. The best course of treatment for my prognosis is an Allogeneic stem cell transplant. This treatment requires the transfer of stem cells from a healthy donor to my own body. The treatment can take up to 6 months. As one can imagine, this whole process can be extremely costly. On top of the stem cell treatment already being expensive, it becomes more costly because it is an out of state procedure. This is where everyone’s donations would be beneficial. Your donations will help cover the cost of lodging, transportation, and nutrition for the time during this procedure. Thank you all for your love, prayers, and generosity.
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
UPDATE***
I feel so blessed to be a bone marrow transplant candidate, and I've had the opportunity to established care with USC Keck Norris Hospital in Los Angelos, California. This is where the BMT procedure will take place. My care team is aiming to being in transplant in as early as March. When the time does come, there will be a need for out of pocket expenses. I'll need to secure a living situation and be able to financially support myself as well as a family member who will care for me. We calculate $3,500 to be the monthly expense as cost of living is high in California. We are in the process of finding a match and at the same time keeping me in remission through chemotherapy. It has not been easy and quite challenging to say the least. But I have faith that all things will work out, and I'm not giving up.
UPDATE:
First of all, I’d like to thank everyone for all your continued prayers and for blessing me with love and support during one of the most challenging times of my life. It has been a journey and nothing much has been for certain but one thing I am certain of is the power of prayer and the love I feel from our father in heaven. I am so grateful and still feel beyond blessed for the little things like being here with my son. Not having to be in a hospital bed with no visitors during Covid and having toxics (chemotherapy) running through my body. I am grateful and hopeful. I see all the good things and how my tough situation has had an effect on the many lives around me. I am trusting that this is all apart of the grand plan and I am confident that those who gave will be blessed beyond their generosity and I am forever grateful. I am no longer receiving my bone marrow transplant at USC. I have changed hospitals due to the donor match process. I’m now being treated at City of Hope in Duarte, California and still in the process of finding the best match for me. My Dr. has tried all efforts and resources and he will have a plan soon on which donor he decides to use. It seems like things get pushed back often but it’s all a part of the process. I’m thinking we will be in transplant by September. I am still hoping to reach my goal of $20,000 to support myself, my significant other, & my son during the 3-4 months stay in California for my transplant & recovery that needs to take place near the hospital. If you are not able to give please, please, share. You never know what awareness you could bring. Thank you all so much I hope this post finds you all good health and good spirits. God bless!!
