Samuel’s Trees is an organization that reaches deeply into the lives of families struggling with infants in the neonatal intensive critical care unit.  Many of these families have little hope for their babies, and Samuel’s Trees gives them love and hope through a very special tree filled with hundreds of dollars of gift cards and notes.  In remembrance of their son who fought against Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) for 19 days, Samuel’s Trees works closely with the NICU Nurse Coordinator/Social Worker for each hospital involved and places the trees with families in desperate situations.

We are doing a “Go Fund Me” project with the initial goal of raising funds to establish our non-profit status, receive coordinated help with the projects for the coming holiday season this year, equip “city leaders” with resources for NICU partnership, as well as provide the beginnings of tree accumulation and gift card purchases.  Non-profit status is so vital to the future of this project because we have major businesses and foundations who are potentially willing to participate once we get our 501c3. 

Many of you know someone who has been in the hospital with small children who are very sick.  Perhaps some of you have experienced it intimately in the past, and you know how important and powerful Samuel’s Trees can be to families in the NICU.  Each family will receive one tree filled with gift cards to local commerce around the hospital they are at, and each gift card donated will have a note of encouragement to the families.  Imagine receiving a tree filled with gift cards, not having to worry about where they will eat, diapers, paying for gas, and some, having the only Christmas tree they will receive that year.  They are able to focus on the life of their baby, and each time will see the tree and remember the act of generosity and love from complete strangers.  What a tangible reminder that they are not alone, that someone cares, even amid some of the darkest times in their lives. 

All of this takes a lot of start-up costs to both initiate and see fulfilled.  We will communicate with you all as we move forward and use the funds in the specific areas listed.
