Funeral Fund for Alex Rutherford

Donation protected

Our precious Alex is gone. Gone forever.

Alex was the nicest soul you could ever meet. It didn’t matter if you only met him once, you just knew, he was something special. I say “our” because Alex belonged to all of us, not just to his family. He brought joy to so many people. He was loved by everyone because Alex was full of love.

Alex loved his parents. He always said “I had a great childhood.”

Alex loved his three younger brothers. He was so proud of them and so protective of them.

Alex loved his friends.  He was always there for them if they should ever need him.

Alex loved people he worked with and you knew you could count on him.

Alex loved animals. He loved his dog Piper, would pet her like she was a delicate flower.

Alex loved his cats, Gus and Claire, and no you couldn't squeeze them, and no you couldn't speak loudly around them because cats do not like loud noises.

Alex loved his fish, loved his pond which he had been building since he was nine, and his beautiful aquariums. You couldn’t just say “oh that’s a nice tank” and walk away, there was a complimentary elaborate lecture on all that went into building and caring for aquariums and all the experiments, all that could go wrong and how they could all be fixed and what he learned which each trial and error. You’d have to really love him to be able to listen to him go on and on or you’d have to be a complete nerd to just love talking to someone so smart and so sophisticated. Whether you liked to keep fish or not, you would walk away envious of his enthusiasm for sure and in awe of just how smart he was.

Alex loved nature, and loved science, and loved mechanics, and loved building, and loved… well, he just loved life.

He had so many plans that you would get dizzy listening to him and figured he needed several life times to do it all. But now he is gone. I don’t know where but I like to think he is out there, on another adventure.

We were all so mad at him at first.. you know.. for leaving us so soon. But you see.. you can’t stay mad at Alex, you never could.

We just miss him terribly and sad for all that he could have been. Sad for his brothers he loved more than anything. They’re lucky to have had a big brother like him, even though it wasn’t long enough. Sad for his parents because they loved him so.

You knew Alex was loved so.. because Alex was full of love.

I could go on and on. You know they say it takes a village to raise a child and so it should take a village to send one in his last journey.

I am shocked to find out what it costs to have a funeral and would love you to join me in helping Alex’s family to cover that cost. There are still three boys to look after and seems to me a funeral bill should be the last thing a mother should have to worry about after losing a child.

Thank you to all those who helped and to all those who wish they could have.

Sincerely,

S. Sen, loving friend to Alex
