We are Shayma and Rodrigo.
We got married in a small ceremony in Jeddah and had planned to celebrate with our families and loved ones in Sudan. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing war and humanitarian crisis that began in April 2023, we made the difficult decision to cancel our wedding celebration. Many of our family members have been displaced or are living as refugees, and the situation continues to worsen. As of November 2025, after Al-Fashir fell under RSF militias, even more families have been forced to flee their homes and are in urgent need of basic necessities. The crisis in Darfur — where genocide has been unfolding for more than a decade — has deepened. In light of this, we have chosen to turn our wedding into an opportunity to give back. Instead of gifts, we are asking for donations starting from as little as 1€ to help Sudanese families survive these difficult times. Just 1€ can provide bread for a family of three. All donations will be sent to Moves Charity, which is currently collaborating with the Mayram volunteer group in Tawila, North Darfur, to deliver essential support directly to displaced families.
