Our Valiant Valerie
Valerie is a sweet fun-loving 6yr old girl who always has a smile on her
face. She enjoys dancing, playing soccer, and playing with her brother.
However Valerie has a few bumps in the road along the way.
She was hospitalized at 6 months for a week due to C-Diff as a result of all the use of antibiotics to fight off ear infections. Valerie had her first set of tubes in February of 2014 due to conductive hearing loss. Then
her adenoids were shaved and her 2nd set of tubes were put in June of 2015. Within one year, in June of 2016 Valerie was diagnosed with
severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss in her right ear. Shortly
after in August 2016, Valerie received a hearing aid which has
tremendously helped her. We thought her ear troubles were over but
in June of 2017, Valerie needed a 3rd set of tubes, tonsillectomy and a
second scraping of her adenoids. Then, in 2018 she had to receive a
4th set of tubes.
Valerie was going to receive a 5th set of tubes in January 2020 when
both her ear drums ruptured on New Year’s Eve. Our ENT was
concerned that her ear drums were too thin and weak to sustain
another set of tubes. Fortunately she was able to make it through this time period without the 5th set of tubes as the fluid and ear drum
retraction resolved on its own. This gave our family an opportunity to research an alternative procedure to help her Eustachian tubes since
she is suffering from Eustachian tube dysfunction. The procedure
which is a balloon dilation, is currently not FDA approved for children
nor covered by insurance.
We feel that this is the best option for Valerie as she continues to reject her tubes, and because the fluid and retraction is back.
Our family is asking for your support to help our beautiful daughter
receive the surgery she needs. Any donation will help no matter how
big or small. Any money that is raised will help pay for the hospital
facility costs, physician services as well as travel expenses.
Valerie is currently scheduled to have this procedure next week.
Thank you for your generosity.
Love to you all...!!!
