On August 4th, Yasmein and Zack Shell welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Drew, into the world. From the moment she arrived, she has been a fighter. Drew was born with two rare and life-threatening conditions: Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) and a Double Outlet Right Ventricle heart (DORV). These are not only severe but also occur without any known cause.

Within days of her birth, Drew faced her first major battle. Doctors placed a stent in her heart to increase blood flow to her lungs. Within 30 minutes of returning from the procedure —she was placed on ECMO, a life-support machine

On her 5th day of life, Drew underwent another critical surgery: a repair of her congenital diaphragmatic hernia. This condition meant that her abdominal organs had pushed up into her chest, leaving little room for her lungs to grow. The surgery was successful, but Drew’s journey is far from over.

Yasmein and Zack have been by Drew’s side every moment—living out of state, facing constant updates, and making impossible decisions no parent should ever have to make. Through all of this, they’ve shown extraordinary strength, love, and faith.

The road ahead is long. Drew will need ongoing intensive care, future heart surgeries, and months—possibly years—of medical support. Along with the emotional toll, the financial burden of medical bills, travel, and living expenses.
