We Won! and we need You! Please help support our journey to Houston to attend the FLL World Championship in April, 2024
We are the Blazing Comets #52572, an FLL robotics team from West Des Moines, Iowa and we won the Iowa State 2024 FLL Championship!
What is FLL
FIRST ® LEGO® League (FLL) is a worldwide STEM Robotics competition where teams build robots and create innovative solutions to real-world problems.
On Jan 27th, 2024, Blazing Comets competed at the Iowa State FLL Championship competition, winning top honors, the FIRST PLACE IOWA CHAMPIONSHIP AWARD . We competed against 200 other teams across Iowa in Robot competition, Robot design, Innovation project, and Core values and secured first place to become ONE of the 2 teams to advance from state.
Our team will represent IOWA at the FIRST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP to be held in Houston on April 17th-20th, 2024, and compete against 200+ champion teams worldwide.
Team won all the four components of the Champions Award for the FLL competition.
Excelling in these 4 elements and sharing that with the judges during a 30-minute interview is what earned us this championship!
Robot Design requires us to build and program an autonomous (no remote control) LEGO robot that can perform theme-based “mission” tasks on a table-top playing field. It includes designing, constructing, strategic thinking, and programming the team’s robot.
Robot Game missions require the robot to navigate, capture, transport, or deliver objects on the mission table. The more missions completed; the more points teams earn.
Innovation Project
Innovation project is around this year’s theme “using art and technology to engage others in what you love to do”. Our team built a website with all the tools needed to create 2D and 3D house designs with virtual walkthroughs, solving gaps in the home-buying process.
Core Values
Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition through Impact, Inclusion, Innovation, Discovery, Fun, and Teamwork. We empower children to achieve success in anything they do.
