Happy 89th Birthday to Our Sweet Papa

Everyone who knows Papa Don can agree he is the kindest, most full of life, generous, and encouraging person on the planet. Known in Maui as the "Mayor of Napili Bay", he can be spotted every evening at sunset tossing Bocce Ball and gabbing with friends and strangers alike, making everyone feel loved.

On Wednesday morning, his 89th birthday, he was found on the ground of his entryway covered in blood. He was rushed to the hospital and immediately transported to ICU thanks to the amazing care of Maui Fire and Emergency Department. Following multiple CT scans, we found he had sustained a broken skull around his eye, bleeding in numerous places in his brain, and a fractured jaw. With further monitoring and excellent care over the last few days we have learned he will need a pacemaker for his heart and potentially other surgeries to repair the damage around his eye.

This all came on the same day Papa began paying someone else to help repair his roof. (It's a miracle! He had been up on the roof multiple times a week trying to fix it himself, making us all nervous due to his past nose dive from the Napili Village roof.)

Once Papa was in the hospital, the family began to scramble to cover his endeavors and found to our surprise, Papa had been giving the shirt off his back.

Papa loves Maui and his infectious love and generosity has granted many the opportunity to come to a place they would never have been able to visit and live if it were not for him. He pays for flights, takes care of rooms and lodging, gives his own vehicle, and oftentimes even his own bed, so his friends and family he loves can experience the Maui he loves.

Please help us pay for Papa's roof for his Birthday! He has given so overabundantly to others over the years, this small blessing would mean so much to him.

But even more, please pray for total and complete restoration and healing of his body and brain.
