Just a few weeks ago, Ollie was the happiest, goofiest dog and living the joyful life every four-year-old Golden retriever should. Now, instead of chasing toys and begging for treats, our sweet boy is battling cancer and struggling just to feel like himself again.
Ollie isn’t just our dog he’s our family. He’s the gentle, loving soul who greets everyone with love, the shadow that follows us from room to room, and the one who somehow always knows when someone needs comfort. Our home truly wouldn’t be the same without him. If you’ve ever met Ollie, you know how special he is. One of our favorite things about him is how he greets people whether you’ve been gone for five minutes or five hours, he acts like it’s the best moment of his entire day. He brings his favorite toy to the door, tail wagging!
Over the past few weeks, though, we started noticing changes that broke our hearts.
Our happy, energetic boy began slowing down. The dog who normally jumps up excited for walks and playtime suddenly became very lethargic. Instead of greeting us with excitement, he would lie quietly on the floor with tired eyes. He seemed sad ,withdrawn and lethargic.
Then he started having trouble eating. The same pup who used to run to his bowl began turning away from food or only nibbling a few bites. Some days he barely ate at all. We could also tell he was in pain.
Watching him like this has been absolutely heartbreaking. We knew something was wrong and we had to find answers.
After multiple vet visits, tests, imaging, and examinations, the vets discovered a mass on Ollie’s hip. We held onto hope while waiting for the biopsy results, praying it would be something treatable.
But the call we received was devastating. The mass is cancerous.
In what felt like the blink of an eye, our world turned upside down. Ollie is only four years old and still so young, still so full of love and life. It’s incredibly difficult to accept that he is now facing something so serious.
Since the moment we realized something wasn’t right, we have done everything possible to help him. Between emergency vet visits, diagnostics, imaging, bloodwork, and the biopsy, we have already spent nearly $10,000 just trying to figure out what was wrong and how we can help our boy.
Now that we have a diagnosis, Ollie needs specialized care and treatment. This could include surgery, oncology care, and ongoing treatment to give him the best possible chance at fighting this and improving his quality of life.
We are currently hoping to raise some donations to help cover the next stage of Ollie’s treatment, including consultations with specialists and travel, potential surgery, and ongoing care to keep him comfortable and give him the best chance possible.
We are ready to do whatever it takes for him because that’s what you do for family. But after everything we have already spent just to get answers, the cost of these treatments is overwhelming for us to manage alone.
That’s why we are asking for help.
Anyone who has met Ollie knows how gentle and loving he is. He has a way of making people smile without even trying. The thought of losing him so young is unbearable, and we want to give him every possible chance to fight this.
If you are able to donate, any amount even $5 or $10 truly helps and will go directly toward Ollie’s medical care and treatments.
And if you can’t donate, sharing Ollie’s story can make an incredible difference.
Sometimes the right person seeing a post at the right time can change everything.
Thank you for taking the time to read about our sweet boy and for helping us give Ollie the chance he deserves.
From the bottom of our hearts thank you for helping Ollie fight. ❤️ we will continue to share updates on our boy.
