My name is Anetha Kashuba, and I am fundraising for my midwife, baby catching friend Carrie Sizer and her family.
Carrie has been a significant part of some of the most joyous and intimate moments of my life. With Carrie, you don’t just receive care, you share tears, laughter, vulnerability, and trust. She celebrates with you in moments of joy and is steady and firm when all you need is someone to truly listen.
Six weeks ago, Carrie suddenly fell unconscious. When she woke up, she had lost the function of her legs and her right hand. While everyone remained hopeful that her body would repair itself, heartbreakingly, this past weekend her condition worsened. Carrie fell unconscious again, and when she woke, she was experiencing further decline, including her speech.
With no diagnosis yet, Carrie and her family continue to search for answers as to why this is happening. She remains in hospital and is currently on a waitlist to be transferred to Kelowna for further care and assessment.
This situation has created an overwhelming financial burden for their family. Carrie was the primary breadwinner, and her husband, Andrew, has had to take time away from work to be at her side while also caring for their children. Between lost income, travel, and the many unforeseen costs that come with a medical crisis, the strain is immense.
We are asking for support to help ease the financial stress on Carrie and her family so they can focus on what matters most right now; her care and healing. Any contribution, no matter the size, and sharing this page means more than words can express.
Thank you for holding Carrie and her family in your hearts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
