Hello everyone and thank you for taking a look at our fundraiser.
To keep things short, our son was born with a Bilateral Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate. For those who don’t know what that is, it is a facial malformation where the bones at the top part of his mouth do not fuse properly in utero. This condition is not solely cosmetic, it affects his ability to eat and gain weight, speak properly, and to hear. To correct this, he will need a series of necessary surgeries throughout his childhood as well as into early adulthood.
In his first 12 months of life, he will need the 2 most important surgeries done on the lip and on the palate of his mouth. The estimated cost of the first 2 surgeries is a little over $12,500 dollars. Our health insurance covers a part of these costs but it only covers a small percentage. The Insurance also does not cover the cost of his weekly appointments to Oakland which is an hour away, or the food and lodging, as well as time off of work to be out of town for these appointments and procedures. This is where we are asking for help from those that we love most.
For donations, any amount is appreciated and we are extremely grateful for everyone’s generosity. We have always been big proponents of the phrase, “It takes a village”. It especially rings true for us now that our beautiful boy needs the care that we can not provide alone. We thank you for your time and for helping us and our boy in these trying times.
