Our Sister Tracey Really Needs Our Help!
Donation protected
My name is Stephanie, and I am a friend and coworker of Tracey Mackay-Eaves. Tracey, and her family, are in serious need of help from our community :(
In August 2024, after 33 days in the hospital, Tracey was diagnosed with ‘Functional Neurologic Disorder’ or ‘FND’; a neurological condition caused by changes in the brain and how the networks work. This worsening condition has left her unable to walk and function properly let alone, work.
This has been an incredibly long and gruelling journey for Tracey and her family since Tracey was rushed to the hospital on July 28, 2024 with severe stroke-like symptoms. Her left arm and leg were paralyzed along with drooping left side face and eye. She was unable to swallow or drink. Immediate CT scan/lab work showed no evidence of stroke. Shortly after arriving at hospital, she started having severe tremors throughout her body and panic. Over the next week she had multiple MRI’s, 3 lumbar punctures and endless lab work. She was moved to the “high intensity rehab unit” of the hospital. She’s met with a Neurologist, Psychiatrist, Physiatrist. She began intense physical therapy and occupational therapy.
By October 2024, after much hard work, Tracey was improving and getting around independently again, using only a cane. She was SO hopeful to be returning to work and getting back to normal life…
But late November 2024, she started to feel unwell again :( She started having full body tremors and then on Christmas Eve, she suffered the first of many many many seizures, that are still affecting her weekly.
This condition is much worse than anyone truly expected. Our warrior sister has fought a hard battle but has a long road ahead; AND is facing a possible MS diagnosis as the two conditions go hand in hand.
Before getting sick, Tracey had always been a consistent and secure financial support for her wife, daughter, mother and mother in law and their dog. Tracey worked hard and tirelessly to support her family and prided herself on doing so. Work has always been her happy place and she is the hardest working person I know, not to mention, the most caring.
Anyone who knows Tracey, knows that she would be the FIRST person to jump in and help you if you needed it and now she needs the help of her family, friends and community to get her through the toughest time in her and her families lives. This money will go to Tracey’s wife Jen, so she can pay bills, and help ease the stress while Jen works on possibly downsizing and moving the family :(
