Our Sister Irene's Cancer Treatment @ MD Anderson

We are here raising money on behalf of our Brave and Dear sister Irene.

After Labor Day and a Second opinion later, Irene was diagnosed with a high-grade glioma. A high-grade glioma is a tumor of the glial cells, cells found in the brain and spinal cord. They are called “high-grade” because the tumors are fast-growing and they spread quickly through brain tissue, which makes them hard to treat.

The most dangerous tumor is located right near the center of her brain near her memory center. Doctors say it's aggressive. So as of right now Irene has lost her peripheral vision, needs guidance when walking and repeats things she has just said or asked often. This is so different from the vibrant, healthy, bike riding, grade school teacher, wonderful nanny, and loving sister we know and adore.

Our sister Irene is only covered with state Medicaid insurance.

We want to try everything we humanly can for treatment options and even trials if we can.

We are leaving Nothing off the table. Unfortunately all of the treatment options for this type of cancer is not covered by her insurance and this is extremely heartbreaking to us and the rest of the family.

We want to send her to Houston to get seen by the best cancer treatment doctors for this particular cancer, at MD Anderson Cancer Center. This is our best option...but it seems with only Medicaid, not an option at all.

We need to be able to make this an option for Irene.

The consult fee to take her down in Houston is high. And treatment cost is in the Hundreds of Thousands. We need them (MD Anderson) to look at her case and see if there are any possible treatment or trial options. Because if there are any treatment or trial options out there, MD Anderson Cancer Center has them!

Estamos aquí recaudando dinero en nombre de nuestra valiente y querida hermana Irene.
