Hello Everyone!
As some of you may know, I am new in Serenity's life, but from our short time together, I have fallen head over heels for this wonderful furry friend. Serenity has so much love in her heart, and so much energy and loves to share that energy and love with everyone she meets. On January 30th, on a standard family outing to the park, she suffered an injury beyond holistic repair.
In a daring attempt to capture an elusive rolling ball, Serenity dove off of a foot and a half ledge to hit the ground running in an attempt to race her sister. Upon impact, she shrieked out in pain, and from that point on, she hasn't put weight on the leg in the slightest. We rushed to her side but we were unable to do anything. We carried her to the car, her mother concerned and afraid for what was to come next. To this day, her condition hasn't improved.
Following an expedient visit to the vet, we were told, from the looks of it, we would need surgery. With X-rays, pain medication, and a little hope, we were referred to a veterinary Orthopedic Surgeon, as standard vet's were not equipped with the skills to help our sweet Serenity.
A couple weeks later, at the consultation, the Surgeon confirmed our Serenity suffered a Cranial Cruciate Ligament Injury, a common but intense surgery to undergo when dogs reach a certain age. This is due to the degenerating tissue in someone's body after years of wear and tear, and according to the professional, the impact of the fall snapped her ligament and now will need to be operated on.
The operation is called a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy Surgery. This is an intensive and invasive surgery that will require weeks of healing. It will require follow up radiographs and aftercare physical therapy. Serenity is very important to us and we want to make sure we give her the best and most comfortable treatment we can get her.
We have the basic necessities covered, but we do need some help. Anything you, the reader, can contribute would be a tremendous help, and as soon as Serenity is on the mend, you can expect lots of smiles and love to come your way. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by!
