Our Senior Wear Expo Project, The Lifting Belt
Our names are Bjorn Elsener, Tavin Vorachith, Carlo Ponce, and Francisco Palta, and we are currently seniors at Charlotte Engineering Early College (CEEC). In our senior year, we have to participate in a Senior Expo Project in which we create or innovate a design while documenting all our progress throughout the year. We have decided to innovate the lifting belt to help bodybuilders or anyone trying to start lifting heavier. Currently, with the lifting belt, there is no technology involved and it is a stiff belt made to help keep form. Our idea is to add carabiners on the sides of the belt to hold wrist wraps, maybe creating a hole to attach weights for dips/pull-ups, but our biggest challenge and innovation is adding sensors. We plan to add sensors inside the belt that will be touching your lower back. These sensors will detect lower back/muscle stress and alert the user once the stress reaches a dangerous level to protect the user from any permanent damage done to the lower back. Thank you for funding this project of ours.
