Betty was found on the street, covered in feces and fleas, hopping along gingerly with her rear leg tucked under her. Immediately our friend and the patron saint of all small dogs, Marci, stepped up and assumed responsibility. Two different vets agreed that Betty would need to have her rear leg amputated, her other rear knee rebuilt, her broken jaw repaired, and some of her rotted teeth removed. Despite all of this - and whatever horror led to her being so hurt and emaciated (she weighed in at 2.9 pounds) - Betty remained a sweet, loving, curious dog. When we realized that Betty's rehabilitation and care would cost literally thousands of dollars, we formed Team Betty to try to help defray some of the costs for our friend. If this dog had been taken to a shelter, she would have been immediately put down because of the severity of her injuries. But now she has a chance to have a happy life. Please consider helping us to support Betty. By joining Team Betty you will get a t-shirt, a baseball hat, an invitation to a celebrity party and a personal thank you card signed by Betty. Just kidding. You'll actually get nothing except the satisfaction of knowing that you helped bring a happy ending to a sad story. And we'll all think you're awesome. Thank you for reading this and thank you for helping Betty.
