As many of you know, my father is in the fight of his life. He has always been the quiet strength in our family — proud, honest, humble, and deeply loyal. He’s the one everyone turns to for advice, for calm in a storm, for a steady voice when life feels overwhelming. But now, he’s facing something none of us could have imagined.

Earlier this year, my dad was diagnosed with advanced small cell lung cancer that has aggressively spread to his brain and lymph nodes. Since his diagnosis, he has endured months of chemotherapy, radiation, and countless treatments — all while trying to remain the strong and steady man we all know. But the journey has been far more complicated than just fighting cancer.

In March, he was hospitalized with septic shock from an undiagnosed MRSA infection that entered his heart, causing endocarditis and acute kidney failure. After weeks in intensive care and a rehab facility, he began chemotherapy again, determined to keep fighting. But complications have continued: a second bout of sepsis, multiple heart issues (including cardiomegaly, atrial fibrillation, and profound weakness from all he has endured).

Our family has fought alongside him every step of the way — advocating for care, driving countless hours for treatments, and trying to manage the overwhelming medical, financial, and emotional toll this has taken.

Now, we are reaching a point where his future care needs may require major changes: specialized housing, ongoing medical treatment, transportation, and potentially legal support to help navigate the growing complexity of his situation. The financial burden has become too heavy to carry alone.
