Hi everyone,
I am reaching out because our sweet girl, Dasha, needs some help. I adopted her 7 years ago from Armenia, and since then she has been a constant companion to me and my son. She's full of love, energy, and the kind of joy that makes every day better just by having her in it.
A few days ago, I noticed drops of blood on the floor and on her leg and rushed her to the emergency vet. After several tests, X-rays, and an ultrasound, the vet told me that her kidneys don't look good - she has some fluid-filled cysts in them. What is confusing is that her bloodwork looks completely normal, and she is acting like nothing is wrong - still eating, playing, and being her happy self.
In order to find out where the blood is coming from, the vet would like to do a cystoscopy and a CT scan. The cystoscopy is diagnostic and would tell us if the blood is coming from her bladder or urethras (and what we can do to treat her condition), and the CT scan will investigate her adrenal gland, which is enlarged, to see if she has any masses growing inside her. Unfortunately, the cost of the cystoscopy alone is $2786.
If you know me and my son, you know how deeply we love our dogs - all four of them were adopted from Armenia, and we have promised to give them the best life we can. We are doing everything we can to keep that promise to Dasha now. I would not ask if I didn't need some help. This week alone, my vet bills for three of the dogs were approximately $2100 - Dasha's emergency visit, Chopik's tummy illness, and Lulu's UTI. I am a full-time educator and also work two part-time jobs to pay for their care, which has been a lot because one of the dogs has monthly visits to the vet, bi-weekly physical therapy appointments, and twice a year extensive blood work run.
Any donation, no matter the amount, would help us move forward with Dasha's care. Even just sharing this campaign means a lot.
Thank you for reading and for caring about Dasha. Your kindness truly means more than I can express.
With love,
Michelle
