Aloha,
My name is Shyann Urbanozo. Iʻm Quinton Boys aunty. Iʻm also his motherʻs (Irey) older sister. This fundraiser is to help with memorial expenses, so that Irey (mom) Keanu (Dad) & Peyton (brother) have the funds to make a special memorial for our Quinton Boy. Heʻs truly missed everyday.
Anything will be greatly appreciated. Mahalo nui! ..
Also, if youʻd like to read below a brief history of how strong & brave our Quinton Boy was. Heʻll always be our #HeartWarrior.
Quinton Kaʻikena Kainoa was born on November 23rd 2019.
Two days after his birth day he developed breast milk jaundice . First 2 months we spent figuring out his jaundice, going to different doctors & finally got through to his PCP. On Quintonʻs 2 month check up his PCP found a heart murmur and sent us to North Hawaii for X-rays, where he was also put on oxygen and soon after went downhill & all major organs started to fail & took doctors about 5-6 hours to stabilize him to transport him to Kapiolani.
When we got to Kapiolani , they intubated him almost putting him on heart-lung bypass (echmo)
A day later they decided to take the tube out to determine what was next for Quinton, 10-15 minutes of the tube being out he went into cardiac arrest for 30 minutes, next day we were transferred to Stanfords Children’s hospital in California following cardiac arrest & surgical assessment. Medical records indicated Hypoxic ischemic brain injury & seizures per MRI.
On 2/19/20 he underwent a mitral valve repair later being discharged on 03/09/20 with no further plan of action.
Came back to Hawaii where he was later re-admitted to Kapiolani on 03/27/20 with rhino/ enterovirus and heart failure & transferred once more to Stanford on 04/06/20.
G-tube was placed on 06/04/20 and discharged 06/11/20 where he was placed in hospice back home being there was no plan of action putting Quinton more at risk of heart failure and brain damage if they did a mitral valve replacement…
QUALITY OF LIFE VS QUANTITY OF LIFE.
Quinton was doing very well since that time, with little to no complications, weekly to bi-weekly hospice visits and physical therapy.
On April 14th we noticed he was a little congested and gittery, we were told to give him Sudaffed (decongestion medication) which seemed to help him a lot & he suddenly and unexpectedly passed April 15th @6:10am.
