I returned home to 2 dogs in my house and my dead puppy. My puppy was brutally murdered in my home after 2 German Shepherds that escaped from the owner's yard were roaming. A neighbor put them in my locked gate, and the dogs entered and mauled my baby to death. He ran to the farthest spot, my bathroom, where he was killed. He was then dragged through my bedroom. I found him in my hallway when I returned home.
The dogs have been returned to the owners due to the lack of any judgment in the animal control ordinance that allows for "1st bite free," as I like to put it. Dogs are back with the owner with only ONE being deemed aggressive, not dangerous dogs, after an unprovoked killing on someone else's property. Imagine if it were a child!
Outside of some measly fines, zero consequences for anyone but me and my children. I can't even shower where he was killed. I have to walk down the hall where I held his dead body. He was just a baby and in his safe place.
Something has to change. I want ordinances to change and I am going to fight. I am connected with the people pushing for the Pam Rock Act with the legislator and want to keep fighting.
He was not property, as the law wants to view him. He was a living, breathing soul and a brother to my children!
