At precisely 05:45 yesterday morning, our beloved young cat Marmalade was run over at this exact location. Whilst I understand there is no legal obligation for the driver to stop; morally, this is a member of our family, and the least they could have done was stop and take him to a vet. Instead, he dragged himself for 7-8 mins; using only his front paws under a bush, where he spent 3 hours alone until my husband located him via his GPS tracker, carried him home and rushed him to our vets unable to use his back legs and leaking urine.

At our vets he had X-ray’s, scans, and bloods to determine the extent of the damage.

Marmalade is one half of a bonded pair alongside his sibling, Splodge, both of which are just 10 months old (Splodge is missing him dearly)

I have a 10 year old daughter that adores Marmalade and is devastated as we all are as a family.

My poor boy has a broken pelvis in 3 places, a broken leg, bleeding inside his lungs, a bruised liver , pneumothorax and has been transferred to a critical care vet practice in Swindon to see if the bleeds slow down and can maintain fluids/red blood count.. that’s all before even considering tending to his broken bones (hopefully on Friday)

The care Marmalade has received from both vets has been above and beyond and I can’t thank them enough.

Marmalade is insured up to the value of £6000 minus excess, but his combined fees to now are already nearly £9000, and that is without any postoperative care/medication. This is not a “begging for money” venture, however, a large number of kind people have offered to help us out a little and asked me to create this page to enable them to do so, for which our family are extremely thankful.
