Hi Neighbors,

This is Marian Barksdale. I have some sad news to share about our beloved postal carrier, Shawn Wilson. He broke his foot last August, had surgery, and is recuperating with pins and screws holding his foot together. He is still experiencing serious complications with circulation and nerve damage. Shawn has not been able to return to the USPS yet, but hopes to sometime in April. He is not eligible for Worker's Comp because the injury was not work related. He also asked the USPS for a temporary assignment that wouldn't require driving or much walking, but the USPS has not found a position for him. Right now, Shawn is trying to work a part-time job at home. His wife is working as much as she can, and they have a twelve-year-old daughter at home.

I've asked Shawn if he would be comfortable with my letting his friends on the route know of the situation, and he humbly agreed. If you are moved to do so, please contribute to a fund to help his recuperation. I will see that all donations get to him. Thanks!
