Our poorly Shadow
Hello everyone,
I moved in July from Whitby to Goole for a job that I landed, thankfully, as I had been struggling to make ends meet as a single mum in a very pretty but ultimately without job-market town. I had previously had cancer in 2020, had the appropriate surgery, and have been absolutely fine until a few weeks ago. It has come back, and I am scheduled to have surgery tomorrow, 17/12, and radiotherapy thereafter. I am genuinely feeling totally calm and unfazed by it. However, unfortunately yesterday our beloved cat had a third recurrence of a blocked urethra, and we had to take him to the out-of-hours vet. They catheterised him, and unsuccessfully attempted unblock him last night, but I've just had a phone call recommending a "perineal urethrostomy", where they effectively remove most of his penis to enable him to pee. My son lost his sister a while ago, and Shadow is literally his sibling, and so the surgery is a no-brainer, but will cost between £1000 and £1500. It was a pre-existing condition and isn't covered by insurance. Because of my surgery tomorrow, I will be receiving Statutory Sick Pay from next Tuesday, which I believe will only just cover our rent. I feel ashamed and embarrassed, but I need to ask if there are any very kind souls out there who might consider assisting (me) financially. I already am as low as I can probably get, so please, no haters or unkindness. Thanks for reading this xx
