Inside of us lives our POND: the Place Of No Distractions, a place that a highly distractible, sensitive, and neurodivergent kiddo like myself has been on an odyssey-level search for her whole life. Through practices and guidance from the lineages of Buddhism, yoga, and western mental health, I have found return paths back to the POND.
This book is born from that POND place and brought to life in full color, in collaboration with the brilliant artists: Leah Tumernan (print version) and Brooke Bodner (digital version).
Our POND is about finding that internal place of peace, from which our truest true self emanates and from where our interdependence and sense of connectedness stems. Our POND book intends to be enjoyed by families, educators, and children (ages 5-9ish) to create a shared language for talking about this internal place and cultivating skills like: emotional awareness, self awareness, and mindfulness.
At 37, with 13 years of Buddhist practice and 16 years of yoga practice steeped into my body and mind, I have found ways to access my POND in more moments than not. Which has been critical through my training and work as a somatic (body based) therapist and social worker, through 14 years of experience in the field working in schools. I have made a vow to never leave my POND to the extremes that I once did and to share this wisdom and knowledge with any young person and/or grown person who will listen.

About the Author:
Pamela is deeply curious about the intersection between our internal landscapes and our external worlds and relations. She hold her Masters in Social Work and works as a community mental health practitioner weaving mindfulness, somatic & expressive arts modalities. She is guided by wisdom traditions of Buddhism and Judaism, and is grateful to her many teachers, guides (little ones and grown ones), deep friendships, and family members who have walked alongside her, ahead of her, and behind her. Deep gratitude for supporting Our POND children’s book.
