Our Phi’s Osteosarcoma Journey
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Jess Aka Aunty Jessie. I wanted to reach out to ask anyone who can kindly donate some money to which would mean the absolute world for my nephew (non biological) Phoenix who is 16 years old.
In context Phoenix is my very close friend Ashley’s, Nephew. Ashley has been raising Phoenix along with her partner Minh since he was 3 years old after his mum (Ashley’s sister) sadly passed away from Bowel Cancer aged just 36, leaving 3 young boys behind. Ashley and Minh were only 20 years old at the time (true hero’s).
Phoenix was unexpectedly diagnosed with Osteoblastic Osteosarcoma in his left femur in August this year, after a fall down some stairs.
The Story: Phoenix had a small lump in his knee for a while after knocking it in an activity. Doctors told Ashley that it was nothing to worry about and it was just a bit of fluid from the fall. Fast forward 2 months, Pheonix lost his balance on the stairs at home and ended up in A&E. This is when we received the worst news imaginable.
Osteosarcoma is a very rare bone cancer which is quite commonly found in teenagers.
Phoenix was eagerly due to start college this year to study Musical Performance, which has come from his strong passion to sing and play the guitar mainly due to huge inspiration from his favourite singer Ed Sheeran. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the Cancer, he has now deferred his placement as he has been told he will need vigorous chemo for the next 8/9 months as well as an amputation of his left leg. Additionally, in the last week we have been informed with the worst news that it has metastasized to his lungs, which is a huge set back.
Phi has been receiving chemo at UCLH in London and will be undergoing his above the knee amputation surgery on the 14th November 23.
Anyone who knows Phoenix knows he has an abundance of good energy and positive vibes around him. He’s super caring and loves to serenade anyone with his guitar given the chance. He has shown us all how strong and resilient he is by taking this unfortunate experience by the horns and tackling every hurdle thrown at him.
Myself on behalf of Ashley and her family would like to start a Go Fund Me for Phoenix in order to create magical memories for him and the family during this horrible time, memories such as trips away, Concerts such as Ed Sheeran tour or whatever his heart desires. I would also like to raise money for the family as due to the diagnosis, Ashley had to give up starting her new job, to care for Phoenix full time as his primary carer and Minh has had to ramp up the shifts at work to make ends meet. As well as looking after their two young boys and their other nephews, it’s been an incredibly tough juggling act with all of Phoenix’s treatments and hospital visits. The donations will also cover reiki therapy, various different supplements, organic food and more which will help Phoenix on the way. So relieving some of the strain financially would be a huge help.
Your contribution no matter the size can make a significant impact ❤️
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for helping me support this amazing family.
We love you Phoenix and we are all right behind you always x
