Our Papa, Jose Duenas

Family and Friends,

Our Papa, Jose Duenas was diagnosed with CMML (Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia). Since January, our Papa has been going through aggressive rounds of chemotherapy. We are blessed to have found a bone marrow match and he will be undergoing a transplant procedure the middle of April. Although the transplant is a hopeful blessing, the journey to get there has been an emotional and financial challenge for our family. In order for our Papa to receive the transplant and proper 24/7 care, the process required our Papa to live within 20 minutes of the cancer facility in Seattle, which is about an hour away from home, and so our grandma will be by his side through this unfamiliar journey. Mostly at our Papa’s expense, the hospital offers short term rentals for patients who receive treatment from out of town. It is well known that in the city limits of Seattle, living expenses are high. The rental consists of a room with 2 beds, a sink and a small refrigerator for $3080/month. This doesn’t include food or other necessities. The hospital program does offer a percentage of financial relief, but the rental cost and other expenses for the next 6 months supersedes our Papa’s fixed income. As far as the medical journey for the next 6 months, our Papa’s transplant treatment consists of round the clock medical care and daily visits to the hospital. Our family is doing the best we can with our part to care for our Papa physically and financially. So, as a family we humbly are in need of 3 asks. We ask for monetary support, to help with the ease of this financial burden. We ask for your prayers of God’s joy (it is our strength) God’s peace (surpasses all understanding) God’s grace (renewed every morning) and God’s healing (in fathomable). Lastly, we ask that you please share our financial campaign with others so they too may have the opportunity to fulfill our family’s asks.
