We have successfully relocated our elephants to their new home in Sai Yok, Kanchanaburi — but now we need your help to build the essential structures that will allow them to live safely, peacefully, and with the constant care they deserve.

At Somboon Legacy Foundation, our mission is to provide elderly elephants with a dignified, stress-free life after years of exploitation. As one of only a few truly hands-off elephant sanctuaries in Thailand, we are committed to ethical care, rehabilitation, and education.

Somboon Legacy Foundation

Founded on Thailand’s National Elephant Day on March 13th, 2019, Somboon Legacy Foundation is an ethical elephant sanctuary based in Kanchanaburi. Today, we have 5 beautiful rescued female elephants: Malee, Kham Phaeng, Khun, and Boon Mee and Wan Dee

Our approach is completely hands-off — allowing elephants to simply be elephants, free from riding, performances, or forced interactions.

Building the New Sanctuary

After six meaningful years at The Legacy River Kwai Resort, we have now moved to our new land in Sai Yok. While the relocation has been completed successfully, the sanctuary is still under construction.

To continue caring properly for our elderly elephants, we urgently need to build essential facilities, including:

* Fruitshop & water stations

* Veterinary and care facilities

* An elephant healthcare centre dedicated to elderly elephants, where regular check-ups and ongoing medical care can be carried out easily and safely

As our elephants grow older, constant monitoring and accessible healthcare become increasingly important to ensure their comfort, wellbeing, and quality of life.
