Help us build a new home for our elderly elephants

By the beginning of April, our elderly elephants have to leave their current home. With your help, we can rebuild our hands-off sanctuary at our new location in Sai Yok, Kanchanaburi, and continue to treat elephants with the care and respect they deserve.

Somboon Legacy Foundation:

Somboon Legacy Foundation is an ethical, hands-off elephant sanctuary in Kanchanaburi - one of only 9 hands-off sanctuaries in Thailand. Our purpose is to rescue and rehabilitate elderly elephants from a life of stress and exploitation.

We are an NGO founded on 13th March 2019, on Thailand’s National Elephant Day. Currently, we are home to four beautiful female elephants: Malee, Kham Phaeng, Khun, and Boon Mee. We hope to continue raising awareness of truly ethical elephant tourism.

Relocation:

After many wonderful years at The Legacy River Kwai Resort, Somboon Legacy Foundation will soon be moving to a new location in Sai Yok, Kanchanaburi.

We called this land home for six years. This is the place that gave us the opportunity to set up our hands-off project and we will always be thankful for this, but it is time to make a move.

By 1st April 2026, we must relocate our elephants. We need you! Help us create a new sanctuary for our elephants, and rebuild all the essentials to continue taking care of these beautiful creatures.

What your donation will go towards:

* Healthcare centre for our elephants

* Plantation of more trees and the creation of green areas

* The elephant kitchen - where we prepare our elephants’ favourite foods

* The night elephant shelters

* The elephant observation platforms

* The interactive elephant museum - an important part of our educational tours

* Poo Paper Factory

* Fully equipped spaces for our tours, such as restrooms, a canteen, shaded areas, and the arrival area

* The office/lobby/sound room

* The mahout village - our mahouts will of course be joining our elephants and taking care of them at the new land

* Water and electricity supply systems

* Road and infrastructure

* Renovation of the boat used to cross the river

* Second hand trucks
