Our much loved cat Eli was shot with an air rifle

On Sunday 1st December 2019 our gorgeous boy was involved in an unprovoked attack where he was shot multiple times by an air rifle. We are campaigning for help towards the cost of his treatment (that now totals over £2500) after there was an issue with his insurance cover. 

After noticing he hadn’t come home as usual, we found Eli hiding in bushes in our garden alone, cold and covered in blood. Immediately we rushed him to the nearest emergency vetswho discovered he had been shot and told us he was in extreme shock with a serious septic infection in fluids around his stomach. That night he was rushed into emergency surgery where his stomach was cleaned of infection and it was discovered that the multiple pellets had caused 4 puncture holes in his intestines. It was a significant injury and we were told that the vets had done all they could for him. 

After a long night of recovery, Eli managed to wake up from the sedation and despite being fitted with a feeding tube, he was eating himself and responding well to medication. This means that after a long few days, we will be able to get our beloved pet home. 

Despite it being so close to christmas and the fact that we have a newborn baby, we have used all of our savings to pay for the initial treatments. However, even after our payments westill do not have the £2500 to pay for the x-rays, ultrasound scans, repeated fluids, medication, feeding tube and constant care that Eli has required. He is also on a road to recovery and we will need to pay for any treatments he needs in relation to this for the rest of his life.

He sleeps in bed with us every night and we are missing him enormously. We are so grateful for any form of donation towards his treatment.
